Overview
Sparktel is currently recruiting for an Electrical Engineer to join a growing engineering team working on a range of exciting transmission, distribution and renewable energy grid connection projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Engineer looking to develop their career within the power sector, with involvement across the full project lifecycle — from initial feasibility studies and site investigations through to detailed design, construction support and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of electrical engineering and design work for transmission and distribution projects.
- Assist with the design of overhead lines, underground cables and associated infrastructure.
- Carry out cable rating and other electrical design calculations and studies.
- Support feasibility assessments for grid connection solutions associated with solar, wind, battery storage and other renewable energy projects.
- Participate in site visits, technical investigations, route selection and site surveys.
- Develop technical specifications, bills of quantities and material requirements.
- Prepare detailed design drawings and supporting technical documentation.
- Compile engineering reports and present technical information.
- Assist with the preparation and technical assessment of tender submissions.
- Carry out site inspections and quality audits during the construction phase.
- 3+ years’ experience in a similar Electrical Engineering position.
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering – NFQ Level 8 or equivalent.
- Previous experience within the power, utilities, transmission, distribution or renewable energy sectors.
- Experience with overhead line or underground cable design.
- Familiarity with cable rating studies or electrical design calculations.
- Experience using AutoCAD or similar design software.
- Exposure to grid connection projects or renewable energy developments.
- Previous site investigation, surveying or construction support experience.
- Good understanding of electrical engineering and design principles.
- Strong IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to produce professional technical reports and documentation.
- Full, clean driving licence.
- Flexible approach to work, including occasional travel to project sites.
