Overview
Sparktel Recruitment is hiring qualified Electricians and Electrical Technicians (Level 5 minimum) for a long-term smart metering programme on behalf of ESB across Leinster. This is one of the largest infrastructure rollouts in Ireland right now, with many years of work ahead as smart meters are installed in residential and commercial properties nationwide. If you are qualified, customer-focused and want to earn well working independently, this is a serious opportunity.
The Role
You will be installing smart meters in residential and commercial properties across Leinster on behalf of ESB. Your jobs for the following day are allocated each evening via a handheld device, so you always know what's ahead. Work is organised into concentrated geographic areas to keep travel time to a minimum and maximise your productivity.
You will not need to chase appointments. Our operations and booking team at HQ handles all scheduling into customer properties — you just do the work. Day to day you will be:
•   Installing smart meters in line with ESB standards and specifications
•   Managing your own daily schedule from your handheld device
•   Dealing directly with homeowners and commercial customers in a professional manner
•   Completing accurate job records and reporting via the handheld system
•   Working independently across a defined geographic patch in Leinster
Full training is provided before you go live, including classroom-based instruction on ESB smart metering systems and hands-on shadowing alongside experienced technicians. No prior smart meter experience is required.
The Person
The right person for this role will be technically qualified and confident working independently. Just as important is the person — this is a customer-facing, self-managed role and we need someone who is:
•   Qualified to Level 5 as an Electrical Technician, or a fully qualified Electrician
•   Comfortable dealing with the public — in people's homes and in commercial settings
•   Well organised — able to manage a full day's schedule efficiently without supervision
•   Self-motivated and capable of working independently day to day
•   A problem solver — resourceful and calm when things don't go to plan
•   Reliable and professional in how they represent themselves and the programme
•   Holder of a full, clean driving licence
