Overview

Sparktel Recruitment is currently recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering contractor for an Electrical Project Manager – Substations to join their growing team in Charleville.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of HV substation projects, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for the full lifecycle delivery of substation projects, from initial planning and design coordination through construction, commissioning, and final handover. The role requires strong leadership, commercial awareness, and stakeholder management skills to ensure successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple substation construction projects simultaneously.
  • Develop project programmes, schedules, and resource plans.
  • Control project budgets and monitor commercial performance.
  • Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and specialist vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with client, statutory, quality, and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Lead project meetings and coordinate stakeholder engagement.
  • Monitor project progress and KPI performance.
  • Manage project risks, change control processes, and contract administration.
  • Oversee commissioning and energisation activities.
  • Ensure successful project handover, close-out, and completion of project documentation.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience managing electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience delivering HV substation projects.
  • Knowledge of ESB Networks or EirGrid project environments.
  • PSCS training desirable.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Commercial and contractual awareness.
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and project management abilities.
  • Strong client relationship and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving capabilities.
