Job Description

Sparktel have teamed up with a leading utilities company in Northern Ireland to hire a Quantity Surveyor. Reporting directly to the Head of Commercial, you will be responsible for the commercial management of various projects for various Clients in the power and telecoms industry across Northern Ireland.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the commercial function through to final accounts, overseeing all financial aspects of the project
  • Interpret the contract to fully understand the project scope, restraints and responsibilities
  • Improve and implement best practice commercial processes and accurate budgeting
  • Submission of accurate monthly applications to Client
  • Identify and price variations/CVI’s as and when they occur
  • Provide monthly and weekly P & L performance reports
  • Prepare accurate progress reports, cash flow forecasts and cost preliminaries
  • Provide commercial guidance on project performance through accurate forecasting and risk identification
  • Ensure the Project Team adheres to all contractual requirements
  • Manage the procurement process to ensure timely delivery of project equipment and materials
  • Represent the Company in a professional manner at all times
  • Prepare estimates for projects where required at tender stages
  • Ensure an element of Health & Safety throughout your work at all times

Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
  • Main Contractor experience with exposure to Public Works Form of Contracts or similar
  • Proven track record in managing all commercial aspects of construction from inception to completion
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to read, understand and organize construction plans and specifications
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal structure while exercising great judgment
  • Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet established deadlines
