Sparktel have partnered with a private telecoms company to recruit an experienced GIS Manager.  Our client specialises in the planning, design and build of commercial fibre networks across Ireland. The Role 

The GIS Manager will join our client’s Dublin HQ  Team.  The company runs with a flexible hybrid working model. They employ a range of highly skilled and experienced telecoms experts and project management professionals. There is extensive opportunities to develop as a skilled expert within a learning environment. 

Responsibilities 

 
  • You will ensure that the company’s GIS software is fit for purpose and facilitates the continuing growth of the company. 
  • Ensuing all historic data is as well as other stakeholder data and systems are integrated in new GIS software. 
  • Working with the client, government authorities, programme management, you will help create winning design solutions
  • Supporting the IT project team on the integration of new specialist mapping and measurement software 
  • Drive right first time validation of information from third party providers
  • Support to the Project Management Team to meet milestone requirements
  • Managing clients, property owners, councils, other utility owners as well as other relevant stakeholders to collate and map key data.  
  • Overall GIS input and database management. 
  • Field based and On-site inspections/cross checking
  • Support the creation of end to end maps to support the rollout of the network
  • Supporting other projects across design, project efficiency, civils and IT as and when required. 

Requirements
 
  • A qualification in GIS or a related discipline  
  • At least 5 years’ experience of working with Utility Design and or GIS Engineering 
  • Strong understanding of underground utilities networks 
  • Knowledge of role of each stakeholder in roll out of a utility network such as telecoms (councils, land owners, other utilities, roads & highways, health and safety, network construction etc 
  • Experience in using one or all of following; GIS, QGIS, ArcMap and MapInfo 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
