Overview
Sparktel are currently recruiting for a GIS Fibre Engineer to work with our client on a hybrid basis in Kildare/West Dublin. . Our client is a leading provider of technical design, build and maintenance solutions in the Telecoms Industry. The successful candidate will work with the project team l play a key role in the planning and implementation of Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) network rollouts across the greater Dublin area.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical mapping and integration of fibre elements (e.g., PUPs, DAJs, DPs) onto pre-existing copper networks using advanced GIS tools.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure design alignment from concept through to construction.
- Maintain consistent communication with project stakeholders to clarify goals, progress, and design standards.
- Monitor project phases for design compliance, proactively implementing change control when necessary.
- Coordinate with procurement and scheduling teams to synchronize Bill of Materials (BOM), methodologies, and timelines.
- Contribute to budget tracking and cost control efforts throughout the design phase.
- Champion safety standards across all stages of network design and delivery.
Experience Required
- 3+ year experience in a similar role ideally in the Utilities Industry.
- Degree in GIS, Telecommunications, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Skilled in GIS-based network design, particularly with ArcGIS
- Familiar with fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) deployments and infrastructure overlays.
- Comfortable with large datasets and producing reports with MS Excel.
- Proven experience in fibre network planning or design.
- Strong communication and project coordination skills.
