Overview
Sparktel Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced IP Network Engineer to join our client based in Dublin. Our client is a leading provider of high-speed fiber-optic solutions in Ireland and the UK. This is a hands-on technical role focused on core IP network development, migrations, and infrastructure enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure and implement MPLS-based network solutions.
- Plan and execute physical interconnects and service migrations.
- Deliver IP transit implementations and network upgrades.
- Contribute to core network architecture improvements and design strategies.
- Perform software and hardware upgrades within defined maintenance windows
- Configure and support core routing and aggregation platforms
- Creation of automation templates for scaled deployment.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues under time pressure and liaise with vendor technical assistance centres when required.
- Manage IPv4 and IPv6 addressing schemes.
- Support data centre best practices relating to power, cabling, rack space and cooling.
- Assist with physical infrastructure activities including fibre patching and hardware replacement when required.
- Third-level qualification in Telecommunications, Networking, or a related discipline.
- 3+ years’ experience within a telecommunications or service provider network environment.
- Hands-on experience with Juniper platforms (MX and/or ACX series) and JunOS.
- Experience working in multi-vendor environments (e.g., Juniper, Cisco, Ciena, Nokia).
- Solid understanding of routing protocols and technologies including: MPLS, BGP, OSPF, ISIS, LDP, EVPN, VPLS, L2/L3 VPN, QoS, IPv6, Segment Routing, RPKI etc.
- Experience performing network migrations and service transitions.
- Full clean driving licence.
- CCNA/ CCNP Certified
- Experience with Python or similar scripting languages for automation is desired.
