Overview
Sparktel are currently recruiting for a Workshop Manager for our client who is a leading hire and sale company based on the Naas Road. Our client supplies a wide range of equipment including power tools, lifting equipment and small machinery to customers across a variety of industries. As a result of continued growth, they are now looking to appoint a Workshop Manager to lead and manage their busy workshop operation.
The successful candidate will ideally be a qualified fitter by trade or have significant experience managing fitters and technical personnel. This is a hands-on leadership role, managing a team of qualified fitters and skilled small engine technicians. The key focus of the role is ensuring that all company equipment is maintained, serviced and repaired to the highest standard, enabling the business to meet customer demand at all times.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage and lead a team of qualified fitters and skilled small engine technicians, ensuring productivity and high standards of workmanship
  • Oversee the servicing, maintenance and repair of all company equipment including power tools, lifting equipment and small machinery
  • Plan and prioritise workshop activities to ensure equipment is turned around efficiently and customer deadlines are met
  • Work closely with the Warehouse Manager and Sales Manager to ensure equipment availability aligns with customer demand
  • Implement and maintain an organised workshop environment, ensuring tools, parts and equipment are properly stored and accounted for
  • Manage workshop scheduling, job tracking and reporting using basic IT systems
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with Health and Safety regulations
  • Monitor stock levels of spare parts and consumables, coordinating with procurement as required
  • Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews and support the development of workshop staff
  • Identify areas for improvement within workshop operations and implement changes where necessary

Experience Required:
  • Qualified Fitter (mechanical/plant) or proven experience managing fitters and technical workshop staff
Experience in a Workshop Supervisor/Manager role or similar hands-on technical leadership position
  • Strong knowledge of power tools, lifting equipment and small machinery (maintenance, servicing and repair)
  • Experience managing a team in a fast-paced workshop or depot environment
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Competent in basic IT systems for job tracking, scheduling and reporting (e.g. MS Office, inventory systems)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with warehouse and sales teams
  • A solid understanding of Health and Safety regulations in a workshop setting
  • Full clean driving licence
