Our client, A large utilities company, is seeking an experienced IT manager to join their business on a permanent basis. This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of all IT systems, ensuring reliability, security, and optimal performance across the organisation. The IT Manager will lead infrastructure projects, resolve complex technical issues, manage vendors, and ensure all systems and processes align with business needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in protecting information assets, maintaining system integrity, and supporting internal users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all IT operations, including hardware, software, networks, and data systems.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal IT support requests.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computers, mobile devices, and network equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software issues, ensuring prompt resolution.
  • Repair and replace faulty components across IT systems.
  • Protect company systems by installing and maintaining antivirus, firewall, and security solutions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation.
  • Plan, organise, and evaluate IT and electronic data operations.
  • Develop and implement IT systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure robust security of data, network access, and backup systems.
  • Identify system weaknesses and implement timely strategic solutions.
  • Conduct system audits and evaluate outcomes for continuous improvement.
  • Manage IT budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations and procurement.
  • Preserve information security, IT assets, and control structures.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including MSPs, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Lead ISO 27001 audit activities and ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, promoting a high level of customer focus.
  • Ensure full compliance with all Quality, Environmental, and Health & Safety requirements.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as an IT Manager or in a similar senior IT role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of hardware, software, and IT systems management.
  • Hands-on experience with network administration, installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical information and solve problems.
  • Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related discipline.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
