The Role

This role will be to oversee all planning and organizational functions of a busy Transport Department. This will also include liaising and communicating with various other departments of the business such as fulfilment, dispatch, customer service and client support. position will suit a highly organized and diligent individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage all transport activities and operational activity from the depot.

  • Responsible for the line management of the Transport Team.

  • Plan daily and weekly activities to ensure effective use of resources.

  • Oversee and approve all Route and Load Planning to schedule most effective deliveries and routes through online system.

  • Manage staffing levels ensuring effective resourcing for the driving team.

  • Mentor, develop and train team members to deliver the highest standards of service.

  • Design, implement and deliver KPI’s to drive efficiencies within the business.

  • Act as the main point of contact and deal with all escalations for both drivers and customers.

  • Develop and oversee driver debriefs, ensuring that transport operation is running both safely and cost-effectively.

  • Ensure all transport systems are being fully utilised to ensure the department is fully functioning.

  • Confirm all transport paperwork is accurately completed and is compliant with the relevant governing legislation and company policy.

  • Manage Transport compliance to industry leading standards.

  • Ensuring company vehicles are properly maintained for safety and efficiency.

  • Proactively plan the delivery schedules to provide for operational changes.

  • Manage all Health & Safety and ensure legal compliance for the team.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.

  • Ability to manage large teams and deliver a high standard of service.

  • Ability to plan routes to ensure high efficiency in deliveries.

  • Strong knowledge of the Department of Transport regulations and experience implementing same within an organisation.

  • Strong geographical knowledge of work areas.

  • Excellent people management as well as client facing and negotiating skills.

  • Excellent attitude and flexibility to work.
